What We Do

Everything we do at the Brooklyn Ghost Project is about ‘Guiding and Helping Others Survive Transition’ (G.H.O.S.T). Our programs are designed to support and encourage transgender and non-binary people of color throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Our initiatives include:

  • Funding Opportunities

  • Medical & Mental Health Support

  • Name Change Support

Additionally, we collect food, wigs, clothing, shoes, makeup, and personal hygiene products to distribute to the community for free.

Current Projects

The Brooklyn Ghost Project Presents

The S.O.O.L. Program

The personal journey you have embarked upon is difficult, but you should know that you are never alone in this struggle. Brooklyn Ghost Project understands the challenges you face, the emotions you are feeling, and the doubts you’ve heard from others. Please apply for our TGNC mentorship in New York City and start getting answers to the questions you’ve been asking your entire life. The Saving Our Own Lives (S.O.O.L.) program is helping disadvantaged youth in their journey through transition.

We develop transgender resources that help you survive and thrive. Our mentorship curriculum is focused on transgender and gender-nonconforming POC living in Brooklyn and throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The program is structured to support the individual through personal, emotional, educational, financial, and transitional growth.

Sharing Stories of Personal Struggle

Come together with others on the same path you travel, and share your stories with people who want to see you succeed. You should never be forced to face this journey alone. Our program provides you with an opportunity to celebrate your identity without fear of judgment. When you can share your story with others, you transform your journey into an asset for people like you.

Developing Tools for Survival

Learn about the seminars, training programs, and other transgender resources we are developing to serve Brooklyn and beyond. We hope to serve more than 500 black and brown members of the TGNC community here in Brooklyn, with plans to expand to other boroughs.

A series of events, rallies, and press conferences are planned to share our community goals. Everyone at our organization is eager to share our objectives, opportunities, and goals with others in need of tools to guide them through this incredible journey of self-identity. Reach out to us today to learn more about our plans.

Events

There’s always something fun, positive, and informational going on at the Brooklyn Ghost Project! At every event, we aim to serve approximately 100 individuals; however, most of our events see more than 150 participants. Throughout the calendar year, our programs, events, and initiatives reach and benefit more than 500 people across our city.

Holiday Events

Come together with your chosen family to celebrate the holidays. Our Thanksgiving buffet-style meal is a particularly popular and uplifting occasion!

Summer Social Events

Every summer, we come up with entertaining and engaging events for our participants. These activities are a great way to have fun, meet new people, and get to know some incredible individuals that understand your struggles.

Informational Panels

Information is powerful, but it can also be hard to find. We make it easy for our participants to access the information they need about common issues faced by the transitioning community, including topics of mental health. These informational panels are led by relevant professionals and make a real difference in the lives of transgender and non-binary people across New York.

Empowering, Inspiring, & Uplifting Communities of Color

Everyone deserves to lead the best versions of their lives. And that’s what we advocate for at the Brooklyn Ghost Project. We are proud to be a black, transgender-led nonprofit organization geared toward providing awareness, support, empowerment, and visibility to members of the transgender and non-binary communities of color who are either struggling with or have overcome gender identity-related issues.

Reach out to us today to learn more about our events, our transgender resources, and our non-binary resources in Brooklyn, NY. We look forward to welcoming you to our family.
